MEADOW VIEW

Hertfordshire

An innovative sustainable retrofit of a charming 1930s bungalow nestled beside a nature reserve in Hertfordshire. This project not only added two additional bedrooms and a spacious living area but also created a serene office space, all while adhering to a challenging budget. Utilizing simple agricultural materials like fibre cement, brick, and timber, the design features a new courtyard for tree ferns and a sunken office garden. With energy performance improved by over 100%, the home now boasts advanced glazing systems, significant insulation, and a roof adorned with a wildflower meadow to attract local pollinators, all achieved with a carefully engineered timber structure that embraces low embodied carbon construction
